So I went to see Where The Wild Things Are last night, not by choice, but I still went. When I go to the movies with my friends, more often than not we can't agree on a movie... So we end up taking turns sitting through each others horrible choices lol. Lucky me went to see WTWTA (I am too lazy to write the title out again, despite writing out this massive disclaimer that is significantly longer than the title). ANYWAYS, here is my review:
I had never read the children's book so I really had no idea what this movie is about. Essentially, there is this boy who has a really wild imagination. After getting into a fight with his mother (whom he bites...) he runs out the front door and it appears he has run away from home, although we have no idea how long he is really gone for.
After getting in a boat, then climbing a mountain, the boy meets these monsters in the woods who adopt him as their king. After having a lot of fun, building crap, and jumping on each other, the monsters turn on him when they realize he isn't actually a king and was lying about alleged powers he claimed to have.
Honestly, that is the whole movie. After that he goes home, hugs his Mom and it ends. I really didn't know what to think. Perhaps if you were a child you would be really into the imaginative world that the kid creates, but I really didn't come to care for the little boy at all, which I think was the main fault of this movie. The little boy wasn't cure or lovable at all, but actually a huge ass brat. He freaking BIT HIS MOM for God's sake. Anyways. It wasn't a horrible movie, it wasn't amazing. It was an excuse to sit in the dark and eat 1000 calories of popcorn and butter - that's what it was.
